通过自己的课堂教学实践，我发现要搞好课堂管理，教师必须首先正确认识课堂纪律。什么是和谐的、有利于促进教学的课堂纪律呢？我认为，英语课堂纪律指的是在英语课堂上教师在相信学生的基础上对学生的行为施加适当的外部控制，从而收到理想的教学效果。通俗地说也就是：对学生不控制不行，控制得太死也不行。在平时教学中我们常常发现，由于英语课堂教学要求给学生以更多的“说话”机会，再加上小学生的好奇与好动，有些教师往往由于缺乏经验或是心理素质方面的原因，在课堂上常常失去控制力，使一些教学活动无法正常开展；也有些教师对课堂纪律过分担心，总害怕学生会趁机故意捣乱，影响正常的教学，于是就矫枉过正，采取高压政策，利用生硬的措施来控制学生，如果这样，把教学的主体―学生当成了一种威胁教学的力量，那么要想真正地维持好课堂纪律，收到良好的教学效果也是不可能的。由此可见，只有热爱自己的学生、相信自己的学生，给学生一定的自由（但决不是放任自流），学生才会和你配合好课堂教学，使师生在和谐的气氛中愉快地教与学，这才是和谐健康的、有利于促进教学的课堂纪律。
那么，该如何进行英语课堂管理、建立起这种和谐健康的课堂秩序呢？我认为应该注意以下几点：
一、正确处理好英语课堂上的人际关系，包括师生关系和学生间的关系。
另外，教师如何帮助学生处理好同学间的关系也是很重要的。
有些学生之间主动互相学习、互相帮助，在课堂及课外口语练习中互相纠正错误，共同进步并形成了积极的竞争，这样的同学关系是有助于外语学习和良好的课堂管理秩序的形成的，也是我们教师应积极提倡、鼓励与引导的。而有些教师却不注意培养这种关系，如：在课堂教学中，由于害怕影响课堂纪律，他们不愿组织学生“practice in pairs”，认为这样会使教室里乱哄哄的。其实，只要适当控制，这种两三人一组的轻声对话远比学生齐声朗读所发出的声音小得多，而且在这种练习中学生间能互相发现并纠正错误，远比齐声朗读中的“滥竽充数”效果要好。
当然，学生中也有一些消极的关系。如“课堂上的共同违纪、作业中的互相抄袭、竞争中的互相排斥，这些都不利于英语课堂管理，是教师应及时发现并予以摒弃的。

按学生的程度分为：A、B、C组。A组：敏锐、基础扎实、语音语调好、语言表达能力强、习惯好。B组：发音能力中等，不太稳定。C组：发音习惯有待改善，语言表达能力不太强，不善于监控口语学习。在口语练习时，三组学生都配备充分的练习量。对于A组或B组，匹配大练习量，培养其耐性及反应速度；匹配难题，锻炼其洞察力和乐于思维的求索精神，如单词造句、根据所听内容用英语提出问题并回答、根据对话内容概述中心大意、编对话、表演、讲故事、做口头作文等，培养集中思维和发散思维能力。对于C组，给适量的、难度低的练习任务，但务求把握基础知识，准确率高，让其有喜悦感、成就感。鉴于其动力性差，暂时不宜急于激励他们向高水平攀登，只要求他们准确朗读课文或跟读生词、对话及复述句子、回答简单的问题等。在呈现新的内容时，通过A组全班B组或C组的方式教授新的语言知识，这样可以提高练习的量度和密度，节省时间，做到“培优辅差”，逐步缩小两极分化。
小学英语的教学，还处于启蒙和入门阶段，农村小学英语口语教学更处于这一阶段的薄弱地带。处于这样的位置，一方面我们要向学生传授语言知识并使他们掌握技能；另一方面要想方设法培养和保持学生的学习兴趣，努力把新《课程标准》提出的要求落到实处。
